Individual and effective treatment against reptile diseases

Reptile lovers recognize immediately when their animal feels sick – may it be a loss of appetite or...

With the new and over-the-counter sera med Professional treatments sera Tremacestol, Oxyspirol, Eimerol and Flagamol terrarium hobbyists treat their animals individually. The products have been developed especially by the scientists of the sera laboratory under the conductorship of Prof. Dr. Günter Schmahl and tested in cooperation with the “Deutsches Reptilien-Zentrum” (German Reptile Center) in Springe (Germany) for their suitability for daily use.
sera Tremacestol offers effective help in case of digenous flukes and tapeworms. The so-called trematodes and cestodes infect primarily snakes and other carnivorous reptiles. If there occur signs of loss of appetite, limited vitality and stunted growth, acts the long-time proven active substance praziquantel that is contained in the treatment.
sera Oxyspirol again is the right one if the animals is infested by nematodes and lung mites. Symptoms for intestinal nematodes range from indigestion (dyspepsia) to loss of weight. Stertorous breathing as well as wheeze or an open mouth when in resting position point to lung mites.
The animal can also infect itself with Coccidia. These single-celled parasites often infest the bile ducts, kidney and the intestines. Symptoms are loss of appetite, diarrhoea, loss of weight – even death may occur. In case of this infection sera Eimerol should be used. Its active substance diclazuril fights the disease in a directed manner and is tolerated very well by all reptiles, especially juveniles.
Flagamol helps in case of infestation with amoebae and flagellates. These belong to the frequently appearing parasites in terrarium animals. While turtles can stand an infestation without problems and do not need to be treated, the disease is certainly a fatal danger for snakes and other carnivorous reptiles. Strong loss of appetite, loss of weight as well as an intestinal inflammation may occur. The contained active substance 5-Nitro-1,3-thiazol-2-ylazane treats in a directed manner against amoebae and flagellates.
Taking in consideration in particular the special biology of reptiles all treatments have been developed exclusively for these animals.
They are concentrated that way that only a very small quantity must be given to the animal and the experienced hobbyist can apply them without problems. With newly-bought animals the treatment is also recommended in line with quarantine to avoid the introduction of parasites into the stock.

For lovers of the underwater world, there is nothing more beautiful than aquariums that make the...

Quality is very important when choosing an aquarium. This is the only way to avoid unnecessary maintenance effort. The complete systems by sera, for instance, fulfill this requirement.
The sera Biotop Cube 130 XXL allows for an easy start into freshwater aquarium care. The aquarium is immediately ready for use – the required technical equipment is already included. 51 cm x 66.5 cm x 57 cm provide sufficient space for the swimming requirements of the fish.
The complete system is excellently equipped also considering filtration: The sera fil bioactive external filter 130 with filter mat and filter sponge ensures mechanical filtration. sera siporax is used in the biological filter step. It provides an area of 270 square meters per liter filter material that can be settled by bacteria. Due to its open pored tunnel structure it provides ideal working conditions for purification bacteria. siporax thus achieves 34 times as much breakdown performance compared to ceramic filter materials. Good water parameters are therefore guaranteed. The biocultures contained in sera filter biostart immediately start the biological pollutant breakdown. The system aquarium is completed by a heater thermostat as well as two aquarium lamps and two fans for cooling the electronic components in the aquarium hood.
Aquarium aficionados can also use the sera Biotop Nano Cube 60, which is also immediately ready for use and fully equipped, as a small counterpart. The total volume is 60 liters with a size of 40.3 cm x 46 cm x 48.4 cm. The aquarium hood of both aquarium types is equipped with an innovative pushing, lifting and fixation technology that makes access in every situation easier.
Of course, sera also provides the correct product for marine aquarists. You can start right away with the sera marin Biotop Cube 130 and the plug-in complete equipment. The components of the integrated technical equipment perfectly match each other also in this case. Special lamps provide actinic blue light and daylight with neutral color.
So everything is ready for an impressive underwater world within your own four walls.

Easy care is successful in ready-for use system aquariums (e.g. sera Biotop Cube 130 XXL).
Goldfish are enthusing. They are ideal pets especially for children – also, because the kids soon learn taking over responsibilities this way. Anyone looking for a suitable aquarium, should provide sufficient swimming space for the active swimmers – the well-known goldfish bowl is entirely unsuitable.
System aquariums have advantages: They can immediately be put in operation and are particularly easy to maintain due to matching components.
This also applies for the sera Biotop Cube 130 XXL. The system aquarium for freshwater biotopes is available ready for use and minimizes setup and maintenance efforts. The natural behaviors of the goldfish can unfold properly as the aquarium provides plenty of swimming space.
Being equipped this way, your offspring can take care of their new friends lovingly.

Little fish feeding professionals

Being curious, observing and researching – aquariums provide a real exploration field for children...

Numerous studies prove: Pets such as fish, strengthen the responsibility awareness of children.
The children observe the interesting behavior of the various inhabitants, they take care of them and keep their environment clean. However, the kids develop an understanding of their animals especially by feeding them daily. They learn dosing the food appropriately and thus will see when their fish have eaten enough and also whether they like the taste and if it is good for them. Furthermore, they will become feeding professionals over time – which fish prefers which food, and what do shrimps eat?
High quality food is, for instance, available from sera. The little aquarium beginners and their parents can be sure the food contains all important vitamins and nutrients (e.g. sera vipan). A tip: The kids should only feed their fish small portions two or three times a day, and only as much food as they can eat within two to five minutes. Feeding was done correctly if no or hardly any leftovers remain at the aquarium bottom. This is, above all, crucial for the water quality. The aquarium inhabitants will surely be satisfied if the children observe this advice.
Further information is available from the practical sera guide „How to feed your tropical fish naturally”.

Against pathogens and floating algae

Aquarium and pond keepers have no doubts when the water is green and cloudy: Algae have taken over...

Aquarium and pond aficionados are very annoyed by algae. When they become a nuisance, they also threaten the health of fish and plants. Furthermore, algae obstruct the view on the colorful inhabitants. However, there are many causes.
The phosphate and nitrate levels of the water are important values for excess algae growth. Nitrate levels above 50 mg/l make the fish more sensitive towards diseases. Phosphate supports the algae growth even in small amounts. The levels should therefore be monitored regularly, e.g. with the sera aqua-test set. This allows judging whether the nitrogen breakdown in the aquarium or pond functions properly. A tip: There is a nutrient oversupply if the water already is green and cloudy. This then also means that the nitrate level is too high. Tap water is considered another source for too high nitrate levels.
Furthermore, the food quality is very important. For instance, aquarium keepers are on the safe side with sera vipan. The staple food contains a balanced amount of proteins as well as many other nutrients. It is very well digested and utilized by the fish, so no unnecessary water pollution will arise.
Too much fish food can also support algae growth. Feeing sparingly two or three times a day is completely sufficient. A tip: Give the fish only as much as they can eat within two to five minutes. In case of dense fish stock it is also advisable to reduce the number of fish and, accordingly, also the water pollution.
Wrong lighting is another cause for excess algae growth. Too much sun supports algae growth just as wrong fluorescent tubes in the aquarium hood do.
The sera UV-C System 24 W helps against floating algae and considerably reduces pathogens, parasites and viruses. It is an ideal addition to the mechanical and biological filtration. The UV-C lamp works in a merely physical way. This puts an end to annoying floating algae and water cloudiness. A special feature of the unit: The rotatable connectors allow connection also in difficult situations.
Aquarists can of course also use sera aquariaclear as to rid the fish of the annoying pest. It works purely biological and is free from harmful agents.
This will stop excess algae growth. The ornamental fish will live in a healthy environment, and the view to the splendid animals will be free again.
sera flore CO2 pressure reducer

I want this fish

Shining colors, elegant movements and impressive fins – it is no wonder that children are amazed...

“I want this fish” – parents often cannot say “no” when they hear this phrase. However, the background knowledge of an adult is required for a proper selection. After all, the kids are supposed to enjoy their pets for a long time. Therefore, species rather uncomplicated concerning water conditions and feeding are ideal especially for children.
For instance, guppies and platies are vivid and peaceful fish that do not have high requirements to the water quality. The same applies for Bronze Corydoras. They are sociable bottom fish that, however, require a small area with sand for taking up their food. When buying them, please make by all means sure that the fish show no disease symptoms such as swollen eyes or small white spots.
Now the new pet must get into the children’s room without trouble. Helpful advice, such as a video showing the single setup steps, is available from sera as to make sure there is a suitably set up aquarium.
A bag with rounded corners is best suited for transporting the fish, as it might get trapped otherwise. The bag should be wrapped in some newspaper as to protect it against large temperature variations.
Then it is time to bring them into their new environment: Firstly, let the bag with the fish float unopened in the aquarium water for 15 minutes. Then open the bag and fold the upper edge up. Afterwards, fill in some aquarium water in small amounts. This allows the fish to smoothly adapt to its new home.
