sera super peat (blackpeat granulate): How much and how long?
We are, generally successfully, using sera super peat (blackpeat granulate) in the internal filter for lowering and stabilizing the pH value in a tropical freshwater tank (230 liters). How long will it take until the efficacy is exhausted (according to rumors between a month and a year, or until it is entirely dissolved)?
you can calculate 4 - 6 weeks as an average, but this also depends on the KH and the water change rate (see also FAQ "How long may peat granulate (sera super peat) remain in the filter?").
How many grams of the granulate are usually used in the filter for a 230 liter tank?
This also depends on the KH and the water change rate, plus the desired effect strength (tint hardness/pH reduction). You can use 250 g to start with, and then adjust (in both directions) if required).
