Veiltail goldfish swim upside down

I have had problems with my veiltail goldfish for a couple of weeks. One of them swims upside down (on its back) for unknown reasons, and was not able to turn around. I already lost 2 fish because of this. What can be the cause, and what can I do against it?

Hello,

according to the description, my guess is a bacterial swim bladder infection that may be treated with sera baktopur direct or sera bakto Tabs, at least in early stages.

Combating the bacteria is still possible in later stages. However, swim bladder infections relatively frequently lead to irreversible deformations leading  to problems with the swimming position for the rest of their loves although the treatment itself was actually successful. Sometimes they can compensate this with some effort, but this also depends on severity and position of the deformation.

Best regards
