sera super peat (blackpeat granulate): how much and how long?

We are, generally successfully, using sera super peat (blackpeat granulate) in the internal filter for lowering and stabilizing the pH value in a tropical freshwater tank (230 liters). How long will it take until the efficacy is exhausted (according to rumors between a month and a year, or until it is entirely dissolved)? How many grams of the granulate are usually used in the filter for a 230 liter tank?

Hello,

you can calculate 4 - 6 weeks as an average.
This also depends on the KH and the water change rate [see also FAQ "How long may peat granulate (sera super peat) remain in the filter?"].

The amount also depends on the KH and the water change rate, plus the desired effect strength (tint hardness/pH reduction).
You can use 250 g to start with, and then adjust (in both directions) if required.

Best regards
