[Translate to Japanisch:] It is particularly important in autumn to remove leaves regularly that have fallen into the pond. Remove the leaves every second or third day with a net, as they will otherwise sink to the bottom, decompose and add too much pollutants for the pond. This would lead to increased algae growth and mud formation in the pond.
Stretching a leaf protection net (approximately 20 mm / 0.8 in. mesh width)over the pond causes less effort, and will prevent excess leaf deposits in the first place. Reed, grass and bulrush must by all means remain in the pond, as they support oxygen supply.

[Translate to Japanisch:] Pond fish require sufficient energy and vitamin reserves built up by special food, as to become prepared for winter. For instance, sera KOI Professional Spring/Autumn Food is excellently suited especially for Koi – but also for all other pond fish. It is optimally balanced for feeding at temperatures below 17 °C (63 °F) and supports disease resistance with long-term stabilized vitamin C.
It is very important to be aware that fish can only hibernate in the pond when the water is at least 80 cm (32 in.) deep. The animals must be transferred into an aquarium if the pond is less deep.
Technical equipment
The pond must not freeze entirely if fish hibernate in it. This can be avoided by the high quality sera SP pond pumps. Place the sera fountain pump SP in approximately 40 - 50 cm (16 – 20 in.) depth to do so. The permanent water surface agitation keeps a part of the pond free from ice and ensures oxygen always gets into the pond and rot gases can escape. Alternatively, a device that keeps the surface ice free can be used.

Il continuo movimento sulla superficie dell'acqua mantiene una parte del laghetto priva di ghiaccio e garantisce il rifornimento continuo di ossigeno nell'acqua e l'eliminazione di gas causati dalla decomposizione. In alternativa può essere utilizzato un dispositivo antighiaccio.
