Kribensis (Pelvicachromis pulcher) - male is aggressive towards the female

I have a problem with my Kribensis: the male suppresses the female. He always chases her behind the filter until she does come out at all any more, and thus also gets hardly anything to eat! Is this normal, or can I do anything against it?

Hello,

a sufficiently large aquarium (at least 80 cm, better 1 m length) with many places to hide (roots, caves, plants) are important in this case.

A possible cause for this behavior is that the female is not yet ready to spawn, and therefore is not accepted by the male.
The situation may turn over during brood care - females guarding fry can become true furies that the male has to stay away of although it is considerably bigger.

Best regards
