Can I keep aquarium fish in a pond during summer?

I read in a couple of books about aquarium care that you can also keep aquarium fish (e.g. Guppies) in a garden pond during summer. What does this pond have to look like?

Hello,

plants growing up to the surface (floating plants and/or plants that reach the surface) should be present especially near the banks as to provide shelter (also from birds!).

In case of very small "ponds" such as planted mortar buckets on the terrace or the like, the size ratio between the fish on the one hand and the pond on the other hand must be considered.

The location should not be too sunny since the water might become too warm for the fish in hot summers.

Catching the fish in autumn - in time, before the water gets too cold for them! - may be a problem. Be sure to consider this in time!

Best regards
