9 Phosphate (PO4) Phosphate enriches as a breakdown prod- uct from plants, but also by excess feeding in a pond. It serves as an essential nutrient for plants. Unfortunately, algae also benefit from high phosphate levels. It should there- fore be checked regularly, and be removed in case of positive detection. sera pond phosvec is particularly well suited for this purpose.
