Water becomes cloudy after a water change

Every time after a water change, which I carry out approxmately every 10 days, I have the problem that the water turns white and milky after approx. 2 - 3 hours. Otherwise, the water is clear and clean. This has now happened for the second time. I use a gravel washer for water changes. According to the algae diagnosis, I have added sera blackwater aquatan to the water after the last water change, and it became better after two days. What could this be?

Hello,

it sounds as if many (basically beneficial!) bacteria (= milky cloudiness) are swirled up from the bottom gravel during the water change and simply require some time for settling on a substrate again (= cloudiness diminishes).

I suggest to simply stir up the bottom gravel less strongly next time, that should be sufficient.

Best regards
