How can I hibernate goldfish living in a pond indoors?

I transferred my goldfish to an indoor aquarium from the pond for the winter. Which water temperature is advisable for the goldfish? Is there anything else I must consider?

Hello,

goldfish can hibernate in cold (4 - 6°C / 39 - 43 °F) water (in that case do not feed nor disturb them)

Usually, temperatures inside the house (including the basement) are higher, so the fish will not rest but remain active. This does not harm the fish, they do not need to hibernate. However, they regularly need food (e.g. sera Goldy Gran) if they are still active. Temperatures between 10 - 18°C (50 - 64°F) are perfectly OK.

You should by all means provide good water agitation and abundant partial water changes - especially goldfish pollute the water rather strongly.
